Ilgo Photo Project Hotel featuring Perugia – Francesco Capaccioni @kdallasteppa. Francesco Capaccioni, a graduate in medical radiology techniques from Perugia in late 2015, shares his approach to photography. “I was given my first SLR camera as a graduation gift, a very basic d3200. It wasn’t a great time for me, as I couldn’t find work, so I immersed myself deeply in this strange device that I knew very little about. I used Instagram as motivation. I set myself the goal of posting a photo at least once a day, which meant I had to take a lot of pictures. Soon, it became a sort of addiction. Throughout my life, I’ve always sought something through which I could express myself. From poetry to drawing, I think I’ve found it in photography. My photos were well-received, which I didn’t expect, and this spurred me on to first obtain a European diploma in photography and then study everything I could about Instagram. Currently, I’m involved in various projects (Deeper Vision, Yallers, and others in the embryonic phase) and I try to join as many as possible. I firmly believe that growing alone is useless. Even Everest is nothing without the Himalayas. I chose these photos in particular because I was born and raised in Valtiberina. Photography opened my eyes, showing me the beauty of this valley that I once considered dull. Unfortunately, very few people know these places, which deserve much more attention for their history and beauty. Montone and Monte Santa Maria Tiberina are just two examples among many. In Montone, for example, the Sacred Thorn of Christ, considered by many to be an original relic, is kept. Montone is a wonderful medieval village perched on a hill. Full of alleys and stone from which you can have a unique view of the Umbrian countryside. Monte Santa Maria Tiberina is one of the newest small villages annexed to Umbria. For many centuries, it was part of Tuscany, the home of the Bourbon family, of which the beautiful castle remains. It too is a wonderful village on top of a hill from which you can see the entire Valtiberina, in my opinion one of the most beautiful in Umbria. Finally, I wanted to choose a photo of the plain of Castelluccio during August 2017, just after the road was reopened, closed following the earthquake that struck our region in August 2016. The Plain of Castelluccio still has a lot to offer and remains an undisputed corner of paradise, as well as being unique in its kind.
